Hannah Davies | Artist in Residence
Based in Cornwall, Hannah Davies is an oil painter whose work examines the interplay between interior and exterior spaces through the lens of reflection. Her paintings draw inspiration from the Cornish seascape and townscape as captured in café windows, creating a dialogue between observed reality and reflected imagery. Within these merged spaces, everyday objects—coffee cups, human figures—appear suspended against seascapes and skies, creating unexpected visual narratives.
Central to Hannah's practice are her "light patches"— these works capture transient moments of natural light as it passes through windows, transforming fleeting impressions into permanent artistic statements. Through this process she preserves what she describes as "memories of hazy impressions, long forgotten." Hannah aims to leave the viewer with a sense of calm hope and an appreciation for the simple beauty of sunlight.
