One of the most wonderful things about Cornwall is that no matter the season, weather or temperature it has a unique magic all year round. Late summer at the Scarlet is no exception and if you are looking to book to stay with us in September, here are a few of the wonderful things you can expect:
September and early Autumn sunsets in Cornwall are some of the most spectacular sunsets across the year. Pinks, crimson and sherbet colours streak across the sky resulting in a blanket of luminous cloud overhead. The sun sets a little earlier, so you’ll be able to watch it go down as you feast in the Scarlet’s candlelit dining room. If you happen to be enjoying a glass of fizz in the cliff top hot tub at the same time, it’s a memory you’ll never forget.
Our garden pods sit in the garden dunes a little way up from the coastal path, so hunker down with a blanket as the evenings cool and watch the sun go down.
Quieter beaches and warm waters
The expanse of sandy beaches on the north coast have now begun to quiet after mid summer’s heady excitement. If you’re exploring by car you’ll find nipping around the lanes of Cornwall a breeze as you discover local fishing villages and country pubs. Of course, if you decide to hide out at the Scarlet, you can amble down to the beach from our gardens, which is a non-too strenuous one minute walk.
Cornwall has long been known as one of the country’s top foodie destinations, and chefs across the county are usually jumping for joy at the abundance that late summer brings. Cornish fish and shellfish come into its own with the local catch taking center stage.
Can’t make September? Our Autumn gourmet break includes a five-course taster menu that celebrates all the flavours of the season as we head into October.
Prepare for Autumn
Taking a break at the end of the summer is an ideal way to prepare yourself for the season ahead, wind down and recharge. Summer energy is often frenetic and late summer is the time to pause and reflect on the abundance we received as we head into Autumn.
The Scarlet has been built to offer views of sea and sky throughout the hotel, so you’ll always feel connected with nature. As the weather turns more unsettled, it offers us a new vantage point to turn inwards and begin the process of slowing down whilst reveling in the beauty of warm September days and cooler nights.
