Summer 2021 / New Combinations

Scarlet Restaurant welcomes Head Chef Craig Davies. After being awarded 3 AA Rosettes at Paschoe House, his inaugural menu for the Scarlet continues to showcase imaginative flavours and out-of-the-box thinking. Craig’s cooking reminds us that food is a game of combining tastes and textures. Playfully following instinct and intuition, sometimes adding something entirely unexpected that makes a dish daring and new. Our kitchen aims for food you won’t forget: incredible techniques, inspiring flavours and unique sensations. We can’t wait for you to try it.

Open for outdoor casual dining from April 14th to May 16th, Wednesday to Sunday

Out on the terrace & in the gardens…

Our terraces and gardens are open from April 14th for outdoor casual dining. Book a sea-air table and try either our new lunch menu or Afternoon Tea. Local and seasonal ingredients, served amongst the coastal landscape.

  • Available Wednesday to Sunday
  • Serving a three course menu between 12pm and 6pm
  • Serving afternoon tea between 2pm and 6pm (please book afternoon tea with 24 hours chef’s notice)

Dinner

From May 17th. 6pm to 9.30pm. It begins with a slow gathering. Small fishing boats crawling out of the harbours. Slow-aged steaks that’ve been hung over the course of weeks. We collect these slow-grown, sustainable ingredients and bring them to our coastal place. And once they’re here, we then carefully combine taste, texture and technique. For us, dinner is a time to dwell and enjoy the fruits of these long processes: to let the taste linger, to sip the wine glass slowly. Please join us for relaxed, candlelit evenings.

Each night, we offer an à la carte menu alongside a seven course taster menu.

Currently only available to Scarlet overnight guests.

Afternoon Tea

From May 17th. 2pm to 4pm. An occasion to remember. Some elements pay homage to the traditions: delicately-prepared finger sandwiches, scones served with rich jam and Cornish clotted cream. But the sweet pâtisserie is a little more unexpected: perhaps playful basil and coconut macaroons, maybe peach verrine with a champagne jelly.

£25 per person, requires 24 hours chef notice.

Available during April and May as part of our outdoor casual dining.

Lunch

From May 17th. 12pm to 2pm. Blue sky days on Scarlet’s terrace. Our summer lunch menu celebrates bright and fresh tastes, drawn up with sunny coastal days in mind. Fresh seafood and crisp salads, alongside sweet desserts with clean flavours. Each Sunday, we also serve our own take on Sunday Lunch — including a full vegan Sunday Lunch menu. If visiting during a Scarlet Spa Day Spa, we’ll serve you a special menu that draws upon the health principles of Ayurveda.

Available during April and May as part of our outdoor casual dining.

From May 17th, served 12pm to 2pm.

Breakfast

From May 17th. 8am to 11am. Head Chef Craig Davies and kitchen re-imagine the Scarlet’s breakfast. A rich variety of breakfast food is given to the table, including our own homemade granola, freshly-baked croissants and fruity compotes. Follow with something hot — the menu could include Loch Duart smoked salmon, a full vegetarian breakfast or American-style pancakes.

Currently only available to Scarlet overnight guests.

Book a table

Following Covid-19 guidance, tables can only currently be booked for up to six people. Please arrive in a face mask. Please include dietary requirements in your booking.

A gentle reminder that Scarlet is adults-only.

Open between April 14th and May 16th for outdoor casual dining on our terraces and in our gardens. After May 17th, we will be open to the public for lunch and afternoon tea. To help us with social distancing, breakfast and dinner will remain only for hotel guests for a short while.
