The book under discussion was Not Quite Nice by Celia Imrie.
Celia’s tale of the characters and exploits of an expat community living in a village near Nice divided opinion in our group. Some enjoyed the unchallenging read finding it witty and entertaining but others were very disappointed and found it wholly unsatisfying. However as always a lively discussion ensued highlighting the fact that whilst this book was perhaps a departure in it choice we do endeavor to select books from a broad spectrum of literature & all feel that in general book club gives us the opportunity to read and sometimes be surprised by books that we would not normally choose.
Looking forward to tea and cake at the next meeting which will be on Thursday 20th August at 2pm in the library at Scarlet when the book under discussion will be Life After Life by Kate Atkinson.
