Due to local building works in Mawgan Porth, there may be some noise or disruption during your stay. Please email [email protected] for further details.

Accessibility

We have two accessible bedrooms. Both of these can be booked online, by telephone or by email.

  • An accessible Generous double
  • An accessible Generous king, twinnable. Allows a carer to stay in the next-door room, connected by private lobby (but not interconnecting doors).

Both accessible bedrooms feature larger showers with drop-down seats and level entryways. Hand basins are also at a lower level. There are guidance rails next to the toilets. Toilet seat raisers can also be organised.

All Scarlet’s bedrooms have entrance doorways that are 1m wide. Leading edges on either side are at a minimum of 30cm. Many of the other bedrooms are accessible from the lift, though some bedrooms are only accessible by stairs. If booking a non-dedicated accessible bedroom—but would still like a room reachable by lift—please email or call our reservations department.

Flooring in all bedrooms is made from timber. In the bathroom areas of Scarlet rooms, a natural stone material is used. It can get a little slippery, so non-slip mats are available. Items of furniture can be removed from any bedroom if required. All bedding at Scarlet is feather, but we also have non-feather bedding available.

The hotel’s lift can be used to access the majority of the hotel, including:

  • Scarlet Restaurant
  • Scarlet Spa
  • Retreat Lounge
  • Library
  • Reception Lounge

The lift is equipped with raised buttons and audio feedback.

However, Scarlet’s bar cannot be accessed by the lift, though the bar menu is served within all lounges.

There is a larger changing cubicle with a shower and toilet, designed to be accessible for a wheelchair user and a carer. Inside the spa, the indoor pool is entered by descending a wide set of steps with a handrail. The indoor pool is 1.5m deep from edge to edge. The door to the eucalyptus steam room is 78cm wide.

At Scarlet, accessible toilets can be found next to the reception area and also next to Scarlet Restaurant. Both with slate floors, they feature pull-cord emergency alarms, assistance rails, and sensor-operated taps, and are designed so that tiles and sanitaryware are colour-contrasting.

Each has a free area of 98cm next to the toilet for transferring, alongside an unobstructed area within the bathroom of 150cm by 160cm.

Two dedicated accessible parking spaces are near to Scarlet’s entrance–these can be reserved in advance. However, these parking bays have a slight slope due to the landscape of Scarlet’s location. Team members are on-hand to help with luggage. A valet service is available during busier periods of the year.

For step-free access to Mawgan Porth beach, please drive down the valley and park in the beachside car park.

Scarlet happily welcomes guide dogs–just let us know at booking.

If needed, a wireless personal emergency call system can be made available during a Scarlet stay. Wristbands are collected at reception. Triggering the alarm will alert Scarlet’s main office, and the team can then provide assistance.
