Cornwall may seem far removed from the world’s worries, however Covid-19 rates here are now some of the highest in England.
At least for now, we ask that guests respectfully recognise that infection and self-isolation rates are still rising across the county and this, combined with continued team shortages in UK hospitality, mean that we have all had to look at how we do things differently. We are working hard, rebuilding the team as quickly as we can, but to ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible, please be mindful that some changes are still in place.
And if you have begun showing symptoms, have tested positive, or someone you have been in close contact with has tested positive, please contact us so that we can rearrange your stay.

Please note, the reservations teams are currently operating between 9am and 5:30pm, 7 days a week. Should you wish to call outside of these hours please leave a message and a team member will get back to you as soon as possible.
Our plan to keep you safe
Your time at Scarlet will be as normal as we can possibly make it; however our highest priority is the safety and well-being of both our guests, teams and local community. We will be continuing to keep certain measures in place to do our part to help control the spread of the virus for the foreseeable future.
Our local, rural health systems are fragile—thank you for helping us to protect them by following the current guidance.
Around the hotel
We continue to encourage you to maintain social distancing where possible. This includes respecting floor markers around the hotel, reducing table numbers in our restaurants, and limiting number of guests using the spa and swimming pools.
Face coverings for both guests and teams are a personal choice, however we are strongly advising facemasks continue to be worn, especially when walking through the hotel.
Hand sanitiser will still be found around the corridors (please use as often as you like) and QR codes for NHS Test & Trace check-ins will be available throughout the hotel for guests that wish to use the app.
Between guests, our housekeeping team are giving rooms a thorough clean. The windows are opened to let the Atlantic air blow through too.
Before setting off
We encourage all guests to take a lateral flow test before setting off - if positive we will simply rearrange your stay for another time.
All teams are encouraged to regularly take lateral flow tests and wear face coverings around the hotel, although this is now a personal choice.
We ask all guests to check-in and check-out online to reduce contact with reception teams.
We’re currently encouraging guests to park their own cars; however, given the Scarlet’s small car park, we may need to move your car while you’re here. If our valets need to drive your vehicle, they will use seat covers, wear a mask and gloves, then sanitise the car and keys.
During your stay
If you’d prefer not to have any housekeeping during your stay, just let us know when you arrive. You can always ask at reception for fresh towels and other supplies when you need them.
To keep distance between everyone, we’re only cleaning rooms when we’re sure that you’re out. We’ll leave a note on the door while we’re in your room. For everyone’s protection, we also aren’t touching any personal belongings: please store them away if you’d like your room cleaned.
Our team will only turndown beds if you ask for this service. To keep distance, turndown service can be organised for when you’re at dinner.
To keep things socially distanced, we’ve spread apart tables to make plenty of space.
Whilst the rule of six no longer applies, we’re still limiting the number of tables to enable us to manage peak times. Therefore, all tables at the Scarlet Restaurant now need to be reserved, including breakfast. Please tell us your preferred times for eating before your arrival.
We’re also running a more distanced room service. For totally-distanced dining (or just lazy mornings in bed), a new room service menu is available. When delivering your food from the Scarlet Restaurant, we’ll knock and leave your order on a stand outside your door.
We’re limiting the number of guests in our spa at one time to aid with social distancing and to ensure you have a relaxing and calming experience.
And although optional, we recommend you wear your face covering when walking around our spa and during your treatment, excluding our Tula Facial, Shirodhara, Mukhashiro or Mukhapada treatment. Due to the close contact involved, if you are having a treatment your therapist may choose to wear a face covering too.
Due to the popularity of our spa and current team availability, we strongly encourage all guests to book treatments, experiences and wellness classes online in advance of your stay.
We have a new spa booking system where all hotel guest-only experiences can be booked online ahead of arrival. Simply log in using your hotel booking confirmation number (found on your reservation confirmation documents). Just add the letters TSH in front of your number and ensure you are using the lead booker's surname to log in.

We’ll be entirely honest: sometimes, these new measures mean we can’t always provide the seamless service we’d like. But we think it’s much easier to relax when you are entirely confident in your personal safety. We are all responsible for keeping each other safe during these challenging times, so a few extra steps are worth it for protection and peace of mind.
