Started by the self-taught artisan Tarquin Leadbetter, the north Cornish distillery began in 2012 as a small upstart. But then, just five years later, Tarquin and Co. found themselves winning the ‘World’s Best Gin’ award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 (the awarded gin, The SeaDog, is so-called as its 57% strength makes it strong enough for any hardy sailor). Here’s your chance to take a peek at their award-winning process.

  • 70cl bottle of Tarquin's Cornish Dry (hand wax-sealed by you).

Distillery tour

Arrive at Tarquin’s at 5pm for a 90-minute journey that’ll help you appreciate each sip more. The evening starts with a refreshing G&T and an introduction to the story of Tarquin’s Gin, followed by a hands-on masterclass covering the eclectic natural botanics that are central to this Cornish gin’s distinctive flavour. Then, it’s into the distillery itself: walk around and see the four traditional copper stills (where the good stuff happens). And finally: a little something to drink with a tutored tasting of Tarquin’s four core gins.

Driving? Instead of the tutored tasting, designated drivers will receive a free 5cl mini bottle of Tarquin’s Gin to enjoy back at home.

Dinner at Scarlet with paired wines

At 7.30pm, head to Scarlet Restaurant’s intimate clifftop Private Dining Room for a seasonal three-course dinner of modern Cornish food. Our sommelier searches through Scarlet’s stores for each dish’s best pairing, opening up new depths within the ingredients. Here’s to an intimate evening of fine food.
