Guest Gifting

…with your booking terms and conditions:

Since August 2010, guest booking terms and conditions contain the following paragraph:

"Guest Gifting Scheme

The Scarlet is committed to promoting sustainable tourism; therefore we have added an additional £5 to your accommodation booking which will go directly to support your choice of one of the following causes:

- co2balance – helping to offset the carbon emissions associated with your travel  

- Surfers Against Sewage – supporting the cleanliness of our seas and beaches

- The National Trust – specifically supporting projects along the North Cornish coastline

- The Community Fund – our charitable initiative which helps realise environmental and social projects in the local area

Simply let us know, in your letter or email confirming acceptance of the above details, either the cause you would like to support or that you would prefer to opt out of the scheme. Please note, where no personal choice is made the default is set to support the Community Fund. You are able to change the supported cause or opt out at any time – no questions asked."

…if you can’t decide:

Please read the additional information which provides: the background to each cause or relevant organisation; an overview of what the Scarlet is already doing to help; and website addresses and links for further reading. 

…if you change your mind:

If you have already agreed to the booking terms and conditions but have changed your mind, please simply let a member of our team know, either over the phone prior to your arrival or at any time during your stay with us. 

…if you’d rather not donate:

Not a problem, we do not expect everyone to donate to the causes about which we are particularly passionate, and understand that your interests and passions may lie elsewhere.  You are able to opt out at any time – no questions asked.

…if you’d like to donate more than £5:

If you would like to donate more than our standard £5 to one of the causes, please ask a member of our team to add your specified amount when you pay your final bill.

…with your money:

All money donated through our Guest Gifting Scheme goes directly to the chosen organsiation; money raised for co2balance, Surfers Against Sewage and The National Trust is sent by cheque, once a month. Money raised for the Community Fund is held by our finance team until our quarterly grant(s) or sponsorship(s) are awarded.
